DevOps / Infrastructure Engineer — NZ

Location: Hybrid – New Zealand, Wellington preferred – Type: Full-time

About the Role

SuiteFiles builds the intelligent workspace that professional services firms, including accountants, lawyers, advisors, and other teams, rely on every day for document management, creation, digital signing, client collaboration, email management, search, secure storage, and workflow.

Our platform is deeply integrated with Microsoft 365, including Microsoft Graph, SharePoint, Outlook, and Entra ID, and runs on Azure for customers around the world.

We are looking for a DevOps / Infrastructure Engineer to help build, operate, and improve the foundations our product runs on.

You will work across cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, observability, security, reliability, and developer tooling. You will help automate the path from commit to production, improve the reliability and scalability of our platform, and make it easier for our product teams to ship safely and quickly.

This is a hands-on role for an engineer who already has solid experience working with production cloud environments and is ready to take greater ownership of infrastructure and operational challenges.

We are a globally distributed team across New Zealand, the US, UK, and Europe. This role is based in New Zealand, with a preference for someone in Wellington who can work with the team in a hybrid environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain, and improve Azure cloud infrastructure supporting our multi-tenant SaaS platform.
  • Work with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and/or Bicep to make infrastructure repeatable, reliable, and easier to manage.
  • Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions and Azure DevOps.
  • Improve monitoring, logging, alerting, and dashboards so we can better understand platform health and identify problems quickly.
  • Help improve platform reliability, scalability, performance, and resilience as our customer base grows.
  • Automate repetitive operational work and reduce manual intervention and operational toil.
  • Apply security best practices across infrastructure and delivery pipelines, including secrets management, IAM, network security, and patching.
  • Help identify opportunities to improve cloud efficiency and manage infrastructure costs.
  • Work closely with software engineers to improve deployment processes, supportability, and developer experience.
  • Participate in incident response, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and follow-up improvements.
  • Contribute to the ongoing evolution of our infrastructure and DevOps practices.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential

  • Around 2 to 4 years of experience in DevOps, infrastructure, platform engineering, SRE, cloud engineering, or a similar role supporting production systems.
  • Hands-on experience working with cloud infrastructure. Azure experience is preferred, but strong AWS or GCP experience is transferable.
  • Practical experience with Infrastructure as Code, ideally Terraform and/or Bicep.
  • Experience building, maintaining, or troubleshooting CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with production monitoring, logging, alerting, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with containers such as Docker. Exposure to Kubernetes or another orchestration platform is valuable.
  • Ability to automate tasks using PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar scripting languages.
  • A practical understanding of cloud security concepts such as secrets management, identity and access management, and network security.
  • Comfortable troubleshooting production issues across infrastructure and application environments.
  • A collaborative approach and willingness to work closely with software engineers to solve operational problems.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, including working effectively with colleagues across different locations and time zones.
  • Based in New Zealand with the right to work in New Zealand.

Desirable

  • Microsoft Azure and the wider Microsoft ecosystem.
  • Kubernetes or other container orchestration platforms.
  • Multi-tenant SaaS environments.
  • SRE concepts such as SLOs, error budgets, resilience testing, or progressive delivery.
  • Security tooling such as dependency scanning, secret scanning, SAST/DAST, or policy as code.
  • Cloud cost management or FinOps practices.
  • Supporting systems that handle sensitive customer data.
  • Experience in accounting, legal, or other professional services software.

Personal Skills, Attributes & Competencies

You will become someone the engineering team can rely on to understand and improve how our platform runs.

You will progressively take ownership of areas of our cloud infrastructure, help make deployments safer and faster, improve visibility into production systems, automate repetitive work, and contribute practical ideas that make SuiteFiles more reliable, secure, and scalable.

As your experience grows, there will be opportunities to take on broader technical ownership across infrastructure, reliability, security, and platform engineering.
