Agentic Engineering Lead (EU)

About the Role

SuiteFiles builds the intelligent workspace that professional services firms (accountants, lawyers, and advisors) rely on every day: document management, creation, digital signing, client collaboration, email, search, secure storage, and workflow. It is built deeply on Microsoft 365 (Microsoft Graph, SharePoint, Outlook, Entra ID) and runs on Azure, serving firms around the world.

We are building genuinely agentic AI into the product, and we want an Agentic Engineering Lead to own the engineering behind it. This is a practical, hands on technical leadership role. You will design and ship production AI agents and assistants that understand documents, automate professional services workflows, and take useful action for the user. You will set the bar for how we build, evaluate, and operate AI, lead the hardest work yourself, and lift the engineers around you.

SuiteFiles is a globally distributed team, with colleagues and leadership across the US, the UK, Europe, and New Zealand. Working Central European Time hours, you will have strong overlap with the UK and Europe and a solid afternoon overlap with the US. Meaningful overlap with colleagues in the US matters for this role, because you will partner closely with the Head of Product, who is based in the US.

Key Responsibilities

• Work with the Head of Product to shape and agree the technical strategy for agentic AI features, and lead the hardest implementation work yourself.
• Design and ship production agentic systems: LLM orchestration, tool and function calling, retrieval augmented generation over customer documents, and stateful multistep workflows.
• Build for reliability and trust: evaluation harnesses, guardrails, grounding and citation, human in the loop, and graceful failure, so agents stay dependable on real customer data.
• Own the nonfunctional side of AI: latency, token and inference cost, caching, and scalability across a multitenant platform.
• Keep AI safe and compliant over sensitive professional services data: tenant isolation, retrieval that respects permissions, privacy, and protection against prompt injection and abuse.
• Integrate agentic features with the platform and Microsoft 365 surfaces (Graph, SharePoint, Exchange) and the core C#/.NET services.
• Set engineering standards for AI work (testing, evaluations, observability, prompt and version management) and mentor engineers building AI features.
• Communicate the tradeoffs, risks, and limits of the technology clearly to both technical and business stakeholders.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential

• 8+ years building production software, with a track record of technical leadership across one or more teams.
• Hands on experience building LLM and agentic features (agents, assistants, RAG, or automation powered by LLMs). Production experience is strongly preferred.
• Strong backend engineering and the ability to design and operate distributed cloud systems from first principles, in C#/.NET and/or Python.
• Real practice in the applied AI engineering loop: prompt design, evaluation and measurement, guardrails, and iterating on quality, latency, and cost.
• Evaluation, guardrail, and observability practice for AI systems, with evidence of measuring and improving quality rather than only shipping prompts.
• Experience in a SaaS or product context, owning quality, reliability, and operability of significant systems.
• A track record of mentoring and influencing other engineers.
• Based in the EU within Central European Time, with the right to work in your country of residence, and able to keep meaningful overlap with colleagues in the US plus strong overlap with the UK and Europe.

Desirable

• Production experience with major LLM providers and frameworks (for example Azure OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, OpenAI; orchestration via the Model Context Protocol, agent SDKs, or equivalent).
• Microsoft 365 integration (Microsoft Graph, SharePoint, Exchange, Entra ID).
• Document AI and information extraction over unstructured documents.
• Event driven architecture, streaming responses, and optimization of cost and latency at scale.
• Experience with AI safety, evaluation rigor, or responsible AI practice.
• Experience in the accounting, legal, or professional services domain.
