When we talk to people about backups we often hear the comment ‘To be honest, I don’t see the need for a backup app.’ And that’s fair, we get it.
If you’re on Office 365 and SharePoint Online, Microsoft does take a backup of your data. While it’s important to note that Microsoft still requires you to be responsible for your own file backup, that safety net is there if something untoward happens to your files.
However the reason why we built SuiteBackups is because we know there’s more to your business needs than having a simple backup. It’s how quickly files can be recovered, whether you have to roll back your entire environment for one file, how long your backups last, who can access your backup, etc. It’s about governance and being able to show an auditor different versions of a file if necessary. It’s about the legal requirements in some countries where businesses must keep financial records for up to seven years. We wrote more specifically about why you should still backup your online data in a blog post earlier this year.
At the end of the day, it’s not so much having a backup app that’s important. It’s whether your business has a backup plan.
That’s why we’ve changed our subscription plans to include backups for your business – we think it’s that important! You can have a look at them here
Our new plans are designed to make it easier for businesses to get the tools they need and to simplify our pricing structure.
We’d love to get your feedback on our new subscription plans. Let us know by emailing us at email@example.com
Note – this won’t affect anyone on current SuiteFiles plans. However for some of you it may be cheaper to switch over, e.g. if you’re paying for SuiteBackups separately. Get in touch if you want to chat about changing your subscription plan to a new one.
